Expert Witness Services

Amanda Pocknell RGN BSc Hons is an extremely experienced Nursing Expert who has been involved in Expert Witness work since 1997 with experience of attending Court and writing Professional-standard Expert Witness reports for Quantum in Personal Injury Cases, Clinical Negligence Screening reports and Breach of Duty reports on Nursing Care.

Personal Injury

Reports are provided for Quantum on the Care, Therapy, Service and Equipment needs of the Injured Individual.

Amanda prepares reports on behalf of both Claimant and Defendant solicitors and as a Single Joint expert.

ALP Care Consulting are accustomed to working with Personal Injury Claimants during Litigation and provide Expert Witness Services to several leading Personal Injury Law firms both Claimant and Defendant. Care Needs Reports and Care and Equipment needs reports are provided in the fields of; Multiple Trauma, Catastrophic Injury and acquired Brain Injury.

Rehabilitation Case Management

ALP Care Consulting is based in Ashford, Kent with easy access to London, M25 Orbital Motorway and South East, East Anglia, Suffolk, Midlands for Rehabilitation and Case Management.

At ALP Care Consulting we pride ourselves on our “Personal Approach” to Rehabilitation, Case Management and Expert Witness services. We provide a Bespoke service focussing on the Injured Individual’s needs.

We ensure the coordination and skilful use of Resources in Rehabilitation and support of injured parties with Complex Clinical needs calling upon multi-disciplinary input including Physiotherapists, Psychologists, Occupational Therapists, Vocational Case Managers, and Experts in all other required fields to optimise Full Recovery Potential.

Immediate Needs Assessment report

ALP Care Consulting are regularly instructed under the Rehabilitation Code of Best Practice assessing a Claimant’s Immediate Needs following an accident or injury. Our Immediate Needs Assessment looks at the extent of a person’s Physical, Psychological, Social and Vocational disabilities and details the interventions needed to Rehabilitate the Claimant and Optimise their Recovery. We do this by integrating services from both the Public and Private sectors to manage the Rehabilitation of the Client according to the programme agreed by the Client, Insurer and representing Solicitors.

Treatment Facilitation

ALP Care Consulting offer a treatment facilitation service for clients that do not require full rehabilitation Case Management but would benefit from provision of specific rehabilitation therapies or diagnostic testing.

ALP Care Consulting is a family run business set up in 2012 by Amanda and Phil Pocknell.

Amanda is the Clinical Director responsible for all the clinical aspects of the business.

Phil is the Operational Director responsible for all non-clinical, business and technical aspects of the business.

Clinical Director

A professional graduate nurse with 33 years’ experience in the NHS, Private, Private Medical Insurance; Medico legal and Nursing Home healthcare sectors. Amanda is an independent healthcare consultant providing Expert Witness services, Rehabilitation, Case Management, Care Management and Healthcare Consultancy services to the public and private sector nationally. An exceptionally experienced Nursing Expert Witness providing Causation and Liability reports, Breach of care reports, Condition and Prognosis Reports on Care, Loss of Services reports, Care Needs Reports, Care and Services reports and Care and Case Management reports with reference to Multiple trauma, Catastrophic injury and acquired brain injury. Amanda is an experienced Rehabilitation case manager providing Immediate Needs Assessments (INA) and reports with extensive experience in setting up and implementing domiciliary rehabilitation programmes; sourcing alternative wheelchair accessible accommodation; equipment provision and care and support worker packages in the community.

Amanda has experience as a clinical lead and Nursing Home manager providing care to clients with complex needs such as physical disability, Parkinson’s disease, post CVA, Dementia and End of Life Care to requiring 24-hour nursing care. Amanda continues to work clinically as an Agency Nurse 12 – 36 hours a week. The past 18 months have been in a Specialist Neuro Rehabilitation Unit; a School Nurse in a Special Educational Needs School providing care to pupils with complex physical, developmental, behavioural and Neuro diverse needs; Nursing care Homes in the community and Palliative care.

As an NMC Registrant Amanda continually maintains and develops her clinical skills, knowledge and competence.

Phil Pocknell

Operational Director

Phil is an experienced Programme Manager, Project Manager and PMO, who has run successful projects in the UK and Internationally.

Phil has wide experience in areas of Finance, Marketing, Planning, Retail, Small Business Planning, Sales, System Testing, Telecommunications and Training. A dynamic, motivational leader who works with Customers and Stakeholders at all levels to ensure the relevant projects are delivered on time, to budget and they work as designed by testing.

Aims & Targets

Expert Witness

Quantum Reports

We usually provide an appointment within 2 – 4 weeks of instruction subject to the injured party being available. This can either be a face-to-face meeting if conditions allow or online video, conference call or telephone call. Desktop reports are also provided.

A report will be provided within 4 – 6 weeks of the assessment subject to all relevant information being available. If a faster turnaround time is required, please contact us directly to discuss as this is often achievable.

Liability Reports

Preliminary Screening reports are prepared within 4 – 6 weeks of receipt of instructions. Full breach of Duty reports are provided within 4 – 6 weeks of receipt of instructions.

Case Management and Rehabilitation

Following instruction, we contact the injured party within 5 working days and undertake a home-based assessment of their needs within 14 working days. The Case Manager will complete the report outlining a rehabilitation programme, costs, timescales and a predicted outcome within 14 days of the visit, liaising at all times with the client, the defendant’s insurers and representing solicitors.

Rehabilitation progress reports will be provided every 6 – 8 weeks.

All financial agreements are agreed prior to commencing a Case

Payment

Payment is preferred using Bankers Automated Clearing Service (BACS).
